Lucille M. "Lucy" Wichman

September 6, 1940 — August 31, 2021

Lucille Marie (nee John) Wichman of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at the age of 80.  Lucy was born on September 6, 1940 in rural Black Creek, daughter of the late Lester and Rosella John.  She graduated from Seymour Union High School with the class of 1958, and later retired from ShopKo Corporation after twenty-five years of employment.

Lucy loved to garden and take care of the many flowers she would plant.  She was also a great cook and enjoyed making dishes for family and friends.  She also looked forward to the many casino trips with her sister, Rosemary.

Lucille is survived by her two sons: Robert Wichman of Neenah and David (Denise) Wichman of Greenville; grandchildren: Lisa, Nicole, Rob, and “Hailey Bug”, and great-grandchildren: Trace, Isabella, and Mason.  Her sisters are Margaret Wichman and Rosemary John; she also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Caroline Nettekoven, brothers-in-law Jerome Wichman and Donald Nettekoven, and a special friend Dewey Sturms.

The funeral service for Lucy will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Wichmann Funeral Home, located at 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton, with Rev. Mark Gartner officiating.  Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.  Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.

The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses at Theda Care and Heartland Hospice, especially Nicole, along with the staff at Century Oaks for all the love and care they provided for our mom along her journey.
