Riley, Lucille M.
(Vande Walle)
Appleton
Our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 79 following an extended illness. Lucille was born on December 14, 1923 in De Pere, daughter of the late Emil and Gertrude (Van Lyssel) Vande Walle. Lucille grew up in De Pere and married Eugene on in Coffeeville, Kansas, on December 30, 1944, . They enjoyed 58 wonderful years together. After several years they moved to Appleton. Lucille was a true mother in every sense. She stayed at home to raise her children. She was always involved in her children’s activities as well as following her grandchildren as they grew up. At one point she and Dad were the “grandparents” to a hockey team-always being supportive. Lucille enjoyed her friends, playing cards, Lawrence Welk, exercise classes, bowling and being a wife and mother. Lucille has resided at Oakridge Gardens in Menasha for the last three years.
Lucille is survived by her husband Eugene, two sons: James (Kathy) Riley and their three sons Christopher (Tiffany), Jon, and Andrew; Robert (Karen) Riley and their son Bradley; a daughter, Barbara (James) Goehler and their children Bryan (fiancé Kristen Hanson) and Sara Lynn. Lucille is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Norbert and Joseph (Babe) Vande Walle.
The memorial service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2003, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 West Pine Street, Appleton, with Fr. John Bergstadt officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Innichement will be at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Oakridge Gardens for their dedication and wonderful care. The family also thanks each of you who in some way touched the hearts of Lucille and Eugene. We also thank those who kept our family in their thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.
