Lucille Goldapske, age 92, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2007 at the Appleton Medical Center following a brief illness. Lucille was born in Fond du Lac on April 8, 1914, daughter of the late Josephine Bingen Meyer. She married John Goldapske on August 22, 1931 at St. Mary’s Church in Fond du Lac. John preceded her in death on July 25, 1985. In 1940, the Goldapskes moved to Ducharme Street in Kaukauna where Lucille worked in the Kaukauna High School cafeteria until her retirement in 1985. She was also a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She took great pride in her flower garden, trees, and beautiful back yard. When relatives would come for a visit, the clanging of horseshoes on the stakes could always be heard.
Lucille is survived by two daughters: Doris Verbeten of Little Chute; Sally (Dennis) Wickesberg of Seymour; a son: James Goldapske of Kaukauna; fourteen grandchildren: John (Theresa) Verbeten, Joe Verbeten, Vicky DeGoey and her special friend Brian, Denise White, Gary Wickesberg, Jenny (Joe) Theys, Sam (Michelle) Wickesberg, Clinton Wickesberg and his special friend Sheila, Matthew Wickesberg, Jeff (Lynn) Goldapske, Brad (Lori) Goldapske, Connie (George) Alft, Jimmy Goldapske, Cindy (Jim) Krueger; twenty-two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by seven brothers-in-law: Fred (Carol) Goldapske, Paul (Karen) Goldapske, Elmer (Billy) Goldapske, Henry (Pat) Goldapske, Leonard (Marge) Goldapske, Charles Goldapske, and Walter (Gloria) Goldapske; a sister-in-law: Ann Meyer; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband John, a daughter Mary Ann Goldapske, a daughter-in-law Jean Goldapske, a son-in-law Robert Verbeten, a granddaughter Katie Wickesberg, a sister Virginia McDermott, brothers Howard and Gerald Meyer; brothers-in-law Arthur and Robert Goldapske; sisters-in-law Olga Toetz, Toots Altman, Annie Landendecker, and Joyce Goldapske.
The funeral liturgy for Lucille will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again at the church on Tuesday morning after 10:00 AM. There will be a parish prayer service at 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Paul Manor in Kaukauna, the nurses at the Appleton Medical Center for the care they gave to our mother and grandmother.
Mom – You made every day special. Your smile, sense of humor, and our outings brought great joy to our lives. You were our guiding light, and things will never be the same without you.
