Lucille “Luci” Koerner Edwards, 89, went home to be with the Lord on June 19, 2021 at Theda Clark Medical Center Neenah. Luci was born on December 5, 1931 in Menasha, the daughter of the late Martin and Anna Koerner.
She graduated from St. Mary’s High School. She worked for The Institute of Paper Chemistry before moving on to Kimberly Clark as a Senior Accountant before retiring. Following retirement, she worked part time for Christmas Around The World which allowed her to travel around the world and experience many different adventures. After a time, she missed the interaction she loved with people and went back to work, accepting a position with Community First Credit Union, where she worked until she was 80.
Luci was the matriarch of her family. Every person she met she touched in a personal and loving way. She spent her life putting other people’s needs above her own. She was affectionately known to her children’s friends as “Ma Eddy”. She loved traveling and was always up for experiencing new things.
Luci is survived by her children: Mark Edwards, Scott Edwards, Todd (Emmy) Edwards, Sam (Nancy) Edwards, Erik (Lori) Edwards, Lisa (Tim) Long, and Jeff Edwards; her siblings: Frank “Sonny” Koerner, Daniel (Debbie) Koerner, Chris (Don) Laeyendecker, Vicki (Steve) Loehning, Debbie Slomski, and Sharon (Joe) Kryszak; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Anna Koerner; her sons Robert (Bobby) and Kirk Edwards; her brothers Michael, Steven, and Phillip Koerner, and her sisters Audrey Koerner Westphal and Norma Troudt.
Luci spent countless hours babysitting her grandchildren with roller rink expeditions, cookie contests, cooking her famous pancakes, and singing funny songs which made her a loved and fun grandma. She left her children one last message in a letter after her death, “You have each other and the knowledge that your mother was always secure in your love. You made me feel like the world was mine and I lacked for nothing. May God love you as you care for each other. I’ll always be with you. Thank you, for your patience. Love one another.”
The funeral liturgy for Luci will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 28, 2021, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, which is located at 324 Nicolet Boulevard in Menasha, with Fr. Bob Kollath officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
