Age 52, died on Monday, May 28, 2001, at his home surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Luane was born on October 31, 1948, in Cherokee Iowa, son of the late Loran and Arleen (Mohr) Wiese. He married Vicki Sieger on November 30, 1974, and they have enjoyed 27 years of marriage. Luane was a farmer for several years in Iowa. He then owned and managed a construction company; before moving to Appleton in 1989. He was employed as an associate manager at Wickes Lumber, and most recently worked as an estimator/project manager at SR Block Iron and Supply in Oshkosh. Luane enjoyed fishing, boating and hunting. He was also an avid Packer fan. Luane loved working with wood and construction. He was involved in many organizations, including the Ida County Fair Board; Ida County Cattlemens and Pork Producer Associations; the Selective Service Board; a member of Walleyes for Tomorrow; and the Darboy Optimist Club. Luane was also an active member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Iowa, and Christ the King Lutheran Church in Combined Locks.

He is survived by his wife Vicki; his son, Landon, Appleton; his brother, La Don (Nancy) Wiese, Schleswig, Iowa; his sister, Joylyn (Dr. Neil) Rippke, Moville, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Betty Sieger, Lawton, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, David Butcher, Lawton, Iowa; Donald (Susan) Butcher, Le Mars, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Becky (Mickey) Stilwell, Fountain Hills, Arizona. Luane is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at CHRIST THE KING, 601 South Washington Street, Combined Locks, with Rev. Steve Nelson officiating. Interment will be at Banner Cemetery, Lawton, Iowa on Saturday, June 2. Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday, May 30 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. A Memorial Service will also be held at Community Presbyterian Church, Lawton, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
