Louise C. Natrop passed away on December 27, 2018. She was born in 1930 to Louise E. Smith (Wolf) and Walter J. Smith of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She married Robert L. Natrop, Sr. in Eau Claire, WI in 1954. They spent many happy years together and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2014.
Louise attended Marquette University and graduated as a registered dental hygienist. She worked in Eau Claire and Milwaukee VA Medical Center as well as for various dentists. She also taught at Marquette University. She received her BS and MA in reading from UW-Oshkosh. She taught for 26 years in the Kaukauna Public School system. After she retired in 1993, she volunteered her time as a STEP reading tutor at Tanner and Electa Quinney Schools as well as Valley Literacy Coalition.
Louise is survived by her children: Diane Natrop of St. Paul, MN and her daughters, Kira Natrop of Atlanta, and Makayla Natrop and Isabelle Natrop both of St. Paul; Robert Natrop, Jr. and his partner Vickie Verstegen of Kaukauna; and Linda and Rich Reyes of Fair Play, SC and their children Richard and Sandy Reyes of Myrtle Beach, SC, Marc Reyes of Milwaukee, and Alexa Reyes of Newcastle, Australia. She is also survived by sister-in-laws Audrey Brunswick, Carol Faust, and Jean Schmidt.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob; her brother and his wife, Dr. and Mrs. William Smith; her sister and brother-in law, Kathleen and Robert McFaul, and her cousin Pat Scheppke. In addition, she was predeceased by her in-laws, William and Pat Cayan and Joseph Faust.
Family and friends were important to Louise. She liked to entertain her grandchildren. She was an avid reader, loved traveling, and enjoyed genealogy research, cooking and Hallmark channel movies. She will be remembered for always being there for others and enjoying every day.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of the St. Paul Manor and St. Paul Hospice that took such good care of Louise.
A memorial service in Louise's honor will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Fargo Funeral Home, located at 400 W. Wisconsin Avenue in Kaukauna. Famliy and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Kaukauna Environmental Center or to a charity of one's own choice.
