Casamassa, Louis D.
Louis D. Casamassa, age 51, of Appleton, died Thursday morning, March 24, 2005, following a short battle with cancer. He was born January 12, 1954, to the late Louis J. and Mary (Triefero) Casamassa, in Milford Massachusetts and had been an Appleton resident for 25 years. Louis was the owner of Lou’s Upholstery, in Appleton for 25 years and of Birchwood Upholstery of Conover, WI for 11 years. He was an avid collector of railroad memorabilia and enjoyed boating, fishing, camping and golfing. Louis was also an avid Packer, Nascar and Badger fan. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl M. (Karnopp) Casamassa, whom he married May 5, 1979; a daughter, Nicole Casamassa and her partner, Sandie Brown, Appleton; two granddaughters, Elaina Brown and Kathrine (Chris) McCard; a sister, Madeline Surpenant; a brother, James (Sherry) Casamassa; his mother-in-law, Priscilla Karnopp; three sisters-in-law, Carla (Dale) Krutzik, Cathie (Ray) Racette and Brenda (Ronald) Gresl; a brother-in-law, Bruce (Mary) Karnopp; nieces and nephews, Ryan, Adam, Gina, Shawn, Ethan, Bonnie, Aaron, Anne and Heidi. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Wilbert L. Karnopp. Funeral services for Louis will be held at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 601 East Glendale Avenue, with Reverend Mark H. Abrams officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 pm, Monday and on Tuesday at the church from 3:00 pm until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
