Kasten, Louis A.
Louis A. Kasten, age 101, died Tuesday evening, February 13, 2007. He was born October 2, 1905, to the late August and Augusta (Klammer) Kasten, in the Town of Center and was an area resident all of his life. Louis married Edna Maldwin on June 14, 1930; she preceded him in death August 17, 1983, after 53 years of marriage. He had been employed by Consolidated Paper (Interlake Mill) for 45 years retiring in 1971. Louis was known as “Mr. Fix It”, he could fix anything that didn’t work. He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, fishing, going out to eat and having a good looking lawn. Louis was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church. Survivors include his daughter, Donna (Howard) Horn, Appleton; a grandson, Steve (Barbara) Horn, Menomonee Falls, WI; a granddaughter, LuAnn (William) Fineran, Appleton; a great grandson, Patrick Fineran, Appleton; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Richard Kasten, four brothers, William, John, Fred and Henry Kasten, three sisters, Elsie Plamann, Hulda Otto and Wilhilmene Schroeder, and a special friend, Pearl Utschig. Funeral service for Louis will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 17, 2007, at BETHANY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 530 West Parkway Boulevard, with Reverend Darin D. Aden officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 pm, Friday and on Saturday, at the church, from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
