Lois M. Van Bommel

Lois Marion Van Bommel (Ackman), age 98 of Neenah, WI joined the kingdom of her Lord on October 17, 2022.  She was born to Orville and Theresa (Ertle) Ackman in Appleton, WI on October 5, 1924.  She graduated from Appleton West High School with the class of ’42.  Lois married the love of her life, Joseph Van Bommel in May of 1945 and together, they raised 6 wonderful children. 

Family was Lois’ first priority.  She loved all of her kids and their families more than anything else in the world.  She was a talented seamstress and boy, could she cook!  Lois was a devout Catholic, holding her faith and her love of God close to her heart at all times.  Later in her life, she thoroughly enjoyed crafting the most beautiful cards for her family and friends. 

Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her son, William; her brother, Harry; her sister, Bonnie; and her sons-in-law, Bill and Tom. 

Lois is survived by her children, Stephen (MaryEllen), Jo Anne, Jeanne (Dean), Susan (Fred), and Robert (Robin); 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; her brother, Bob (JoAnn); as well as many other nieces, nephews, and extended relatives. 

A graveside service and celebration of life for Lois will be held in May of 2023 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Appleton.  Be sure to check back for updates about the service.  Until such time, please consider leaving a message for Lois' family.  

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice through Thedacare At Home, Island Shores Assisted Living, and especially Doctor Janine Buffo for their combined compassion and care shown to Lois throughout the years.
