Lois Jayne Van Asten, age 56, of Darboy, entered into Eternal Life with her family by her side at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee on Saturday, March 11, 2017. She was born on March 14, 1960, in Green Bay, to Arlin and Janet (Stingle) Springstroh. Lois graduated from Seymour Community High School in 1978. She also received her Associate's Degree from Fox Valley Technical College with an emphasis in Child Care. She married her soulmate, Jeffrey J. Van Asten on October 25, 1991, at Holy Spirit Parish in Darboy. Lois was a kind, compassionate, faithful mother and caregiver. Her true focus was on her children, family, and the Lord as she was an avid churchgoer. She loved to bake and make homemade bread for her family and friends. Lois crafted detailed cards for every special occasion; her memory for dates was impressive. Lois made it a point to decorate the family home seasonally, it was always a welcoming place. With her family, she enjoyed spending time at their cottage on Pelican Lake, especially when the fish were biting.
Lois will be sadly missed by her husband of 25 years, Jeffrey, her son Tyler, and her daughter Maria. She is further survived by her siblings, Joan (Jim) Stahl of Neenah and their children Teresa (Aaron) Gajewski and Patrick; Jacklyn (Ray) Rock of Appleton and their children Ryan and Christopher; Thomas Springstroh of Appleton; and Dean (Tina) Springstroh of Black Creek; her father-in-law, Jerome “Whitey” Van Asten of Darboy; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom (Barb) Van Asten of Freedom and their children Carissa, Kelsie, Kayla, and Carlie; Pam (Gary) Schiedermayer of Darboy and their children Nicholas and Jeremie; Steve (Kelly) Van Asten of Darboy and their children Kashena and Annalee; and Mike (Jessica) Zielinski of Appleton and their children Gavin and Lauren.
She was preceded in her death by her infant brother, Donald Joseph Springstroh; her grandparents; Erwin and Helen (Baumann) Stingle; Otto and Minnie (Kuschel) Springstroh; her mother-in-law; Carol Jean (Evers) Van Asten; her sister-in-law; Sara Ann (Van Asten) Zelinski; and her nephew Eli Thomas Van Asten.
A celebration of Lois' life will be on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Holy Spirit Parish-Darboy Campus, W2796 County Road KK, Darboy at 12:00 pm with Fr. Bob Kollath officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service.
