Lois C. Ver Kuilen

Lois C. Ver Kuilen, 91, passed away on Wednesday, January, 16, 2019.

Lois was born on September 28, 1927 to the late Ruben Nickasch and Stella (Schultz) Nickasch in Appleton, Wisconsin. She lived in Appleton all her life. Graduated from Appleton High School in 1945 and was employed at First National Bank of Appleton for five years. She married James Ver Kuilen on July 5, 1952 and they were married for 60 years. He passed away in 2011. Lois was a dedicated care giver for Jim. She was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Appleton, sang in the adult choir for 25 years, helped serve for funeral luncheons at the church and helped with the monthly newsletters and church bulletins for 50 years. She enjoyed attending the school and sport activities of her children and grandchildren. Lois kept her family well fed with good meals, canning of vegetables and fruit, baking and making apple pies which were Jim’s favorite.

Survivors include four children, Nancy Ver Kuilen, St. Germain, WI; Michael Ver Kuilen (Lisa), Eyota, MN; Barbara Ver Kuilen (Bruce Jansen), Little Chute, WI and Bruce Ver Kuilen (Linda), Appleton, WI. Five grandchildren, Erik (Alexandra) and Brett Jung, Chicago, IL; Nicole Ver Kuilen, Edmonds, WA; Kylie and Simon Ver Kuilen, Eyota, MN. Sisters-in-law; Reva (Ver Kuilen) Ovens, Sault St. Marie, Canada; Kathryn Ver Kuilen, Green Bay, WI, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, brothers Norman, New Jersey; Harlan, West Bend, WI; Dwain (Bette) Appleton; sister Marion (Clifford) Lappen, Appleton; and sister-in-law Joan Nickasch.

The memorial service for Lois will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 5:30 PM, at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2200 E. College Ave. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 from3:30 PM until the time of the service at the church.
