Age 83, passed away Friday, March 18, 2005 at his home. Bud was born in Bear Creek on April 11, 1921, son of the late Nel “Philip” and Genevieve (Lehman) Hanson. During World War II, he faithfully served as a member of the United States Army, and on October 19, 1946, he married the former Ione Brandt in Appleton. For many years, Bud worked as a semi driver for Krambo/Kroeger and retired from Baer Beverage in 1983. After his retirement, he also worked at Bergstrom Automotive, assisting with dealer trades. Bud enjoyed deer hunting, bowling, playing cards, building bird feeders and birdhouses, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Everyone will remember his quick sense of humor and they special way he always had his grandchildren laughing.
Bud is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years: Ione Hanson of Appleton; five daughters: Geraldine “Geri” Janusheske of Hortonville, Jacklynn O’Connell of Marion, Dorla Fiane of Fremont, Paula (John) Kies of Greenville, and Sharon (Rory) DuFour of Appleton; two sons: Wayne Hanson of Appleton and Clyde (Cyndy) Hanson of Larsen; eleven grandchildren: James “J.J.” Janusheske, John (Jessica) Schwieso, Sara (Jeff) Poupore, Michelle Fiane, Jason Fiane, Melissa Kies, Chris Kies, Tina (Scott) Burrichter, Michael Millhouse, Tammy (Mark) Wright, and Chad (Ann) Hanson; nine great-grandchildren; a brother: Harold (Lucille) Hanson of Bear Creek; three sisters: Betty Finger of Clintonville, Luella Guyette of Greenville, and Darlene (Stan) Christiansen of Oshkosh; a sister-in-law: Louise Hanson of Phelps. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Andy Hanson and Ruben (Mae) Hanson, sons-in-law: Tom Janusheske, John Fiane, Jim O’Connell, his step-mother Grandma Jo McGinty, and brothers-in-law Cliff Finger and Merlin Guyette.
The Christian Funeral for Bud will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, March 21, 2005 at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Morrison Street in Appleton with Rev. Kenneth L. Frey officiating. Military rites will be provided by the members of William Verhagen Post #60 of Kimberly. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday (TODAY) and again Monday at the church from 3:00 PM until the hour of the services.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Heartland Hospice for the special things they did to make Bud comfortable during his final days. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
