Linda L. Kasten, 55, of Appleton, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2005, at the Hospice of Cherry Meadows, after a hard fought, two year battle with cancer. Linda was born February 21, 1950, in Appleton, the daughter of Gertrude (Schafhauser) Krueger, of Appleton, and the late Harold Krueger.
Linda was a 1968 graduate of Xavier High School. She was united in marriage with Stephen Kasten on November 15, 1976, in Iron Mountain, Mich. Linda was a very accomplished seamstress and enjoyed arts and crafts. She loved working on her computer and was excellent with word games.

Survivors include her husband, Steve; her mother, Gertrude “Cookie” Krueger; her sister, Sandy (Don) Jacobson, of Appleton, and their children, Todd (Kerri) Jacobson, and Noah, of Menasha, and Jenny (Mick) Gilbert, and Jacob and Joshua, all of Appleton; her brother, Gary Krueger, of Appleton; her sister, Kathy (Pat) Coonen, and their children, Cari (Aaron) Peterson, and Haley and Olivia, Amy (Ryan) Didreckson, and Katie and Emily Coonen, all of Appleton; two brothers-in-law, Vance (Janilyn) Cope-Kasten, of Ripon, and their children, Benjamin and Callie, and Si (Katie) Matthies, of Plymouth, Minn., and their children, Silas, Gretchen, and Hunter. Linda is further survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold “Squeeks” Krueger.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 20, 2005, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 North Superior Street. A private family burial will take place at the Riverside Cemetery in Appleton. Memorials in Linda’s name may be sent to Cherry Meadows, 2500 Heritage Woods Dr., Appleton, WI, 54915.

A very special thank you to the entire Cherry Meadows Hospice staff. They are the most gifted group of caregivers I’ve ever had contact with. They are very special people. I will always be in their debt. And a very special thank you to Cari Peterson and her daughter, Haley, for their cards, letters, pictures, and support.
