Alma A. Kuschel passed away on November 28, 2015 at the age of 96. She was born in rural Waupaca County and attended schools in Clintonville. After graduating from Clintonville High School, she entered the three year nursing program at Bellin in Green Bay. By the time of her graduation, we had entered into World War II, and Alma joined the Nurses Corps in the Naval Reserve and served in the Pacific area in New Zealand and New Caledonia. She remained in the Naval Reserve and served mostly at hospitals on the east coast to complete 30 years by the time she retired as Lieutenant Commander. Alma lived in Virginia for several years and eventually moved to Appleton.
Alma is survived by her sister: Ruth Kluth; nephews: Bill (Lynda) Kluth and John (Tracey) Kluth; and niece Barb (Doug) Dorn; as well as great nieces and nephews: Amanda (Craig) Cameron and their children Hannah and Brooke, Jake Kluth, Eric (Laura) Dorn, Michael (Ashley) Kluth, Nathan (Meghan) Kluth, Renee (Kyle) VanVreede and Mark (Amanda) Kluth. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Ernestine; sister: Linda Kuschel, brother: Carl Kuschel and brother-in-law: Vernon Kluth.
A small private memorial service will be held for Alma at a later date.
