Hoerning, Lester A.
Menasha
Age 79, died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 23, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Lester was born August 1, 1926, in Appleton, the son of the late Wilbert and Rose (Drexler) Hoerning.
Les was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy from 1942 until 1946.
He was united in marriage to Hildegarde Gosz on August 23, 1947, in the town of Grand Chute.
Prior to his retirement in 1983, he was the plant foreman for Hoerning Block Factory in Menasha, and worked for Bend Industries in Appleton.
The Hoernings enjoyed family camping outings, and Les loved to golf, play pool, and will be remembered by many schoolchildren and parents as a crossing guard for the Menasha School District for several years.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Hildegarde; his son, Master Sergeant Ret. Marine Corps Wilbert (Micki) Hoerning, of Menasha, and his daughter, Judy (Tim) Koslowski, of Larsen; his two grandchildren, Kristil (Anthony) Barnett and Tony Hoerning; his brother, Robert “Butch” (Gloria) Hoerning, of Chiefland, Fla.; and his sisters, Carol (Jim) Kampo, of Oshkosh, and Nancy (Lee) Blank, of Weyauwega.
Lester was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry, and his sister, Dolores.
Private family services will be held at a later time at Appleton Highland Memorial Park Cemetery.
