LEORA E. MILLER

Age 89, went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, April 18, 2002, at Rennes Health Center, Appleton. Leora was born on November 21, 1912, in Chicago, to the late Paul and Hattie (Gielow) Murray. She married Harry Miller, Sr. on September 25, 1937; he preceded her in death on November 4, 1982. Leora was a radiology bookkeeper for 10 years at Southern Methodist Hospital in New Orleans prior to moving to California and then to Wisconsin. Leora was well known as a generous person whose family enjoyed her award winning cakes and rolls. She was active in both the Girl Scouts and 4-H programs and enjoyed gardening, fishing and traveling. Leora was a devoted mother, grand-mother and great grand-mother.
Survivors include her son, Harry Miller, Jr., Pilot Hill, California; her daughter Diane (Michael Maass) Bourgeois, Castro Valley, California; and her son David (Jill) Miller, Appleton; her grandchildren, David, Tom and Paul Miller and Jenny Allen, Karen Byrd; Jeff, Lance, and Eric Cummings; Greg, Kristen and Brett Miller, Stephanie Schedler; her sister, Gladys Champion, Coral Gables, Florida and her brother, Paul Murray, Varna, Illinois; and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois Cunningham and Ruth Kamis, and her daughter-in-law, Peg Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2002, at RIVERVIEW E. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 136 West Seymour Street, Appleton, with Rev. Dennis Belter officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton, on Sunday from 4 p.m to 8 p.m. and again directly at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial has been established in Leora’s name to benefit the Riverview Ev. Lutheran Church School. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at The Renaissance, Parkside Care Center, Rennes Health Care Center, and Mr. Peter Wolfgramm and Rev. Belter of Riverview Ev. Lutheran Church for their loving care.
