Leonard C. “Lenny” Bartman, age 88, of Appleton, passed away on January 25, 2024. Lenny was born on April 9, 1935 in Black Creek, Wisconsin to the late Carl and Erna (Winter) Bartman. On September 4, 1987 he married the love of his life, Wanda Word in Appleton, Wisconsin. Wanda preceded him in death on July 22, 2022.
Lenny was employed for over 25 years at Fox River Paper. He also worked construction throughout his earlier years where he proudly helped build the library and tunnels at UW Green Bay.
Lenny loved to watch football. He enjoyed watching both the Packers and the Badgers. He also loved NASCAR and even drove stockcar for a while. He was a tinkerer and liked woodworking and working with his hands. He liked watching Western Movies, listening to country music, playing pool, bowling and gardening. He was witty and known as the “King of One Liners” but was also a man of few words. In the 18 months following Wanda's death, he looked forward to his weekly lunch dates with his daughter and nightly phone call with his granddaughter.
Survivors include his daughter Juanita (Dan) Zenefski, granddaughter Ashley (Chris) Kane, brother Orville Bartman and brother-in-law Willard “Buck” Greeley and sister-in-law Martha Mims as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda, sister Marilyn Greeley, infant brother Ronald Bartman and sister-in-law Pat Bartman.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday February 18, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Pub 55, 1441 Arbor Way in Kaukauna. Please plan to attend casual. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Appleton at a later date.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Lenny’s neighbors Dan and Paula for all of their help and watching over him after Wanda passed. Thank you also to the staff and nurses of Rosewood Grove at Peabody Manor for the care given to Lenny in his final days.
