Formerly of Kimberly, died Monday, November 12, 2001 at a local nursing home. Len was born in Freedom on April 9, 1905, son of the late Henry and Mary (Conrad) Romenesko. On June 9, 1931, he married the former Geraldine Peeters in Little Chute; she preceded him in death on June 2, 1989. Len was employed for over forty years as a painter at the Kimberly Clark Mill in Kimberly where has was an active member of his labor union. He served as a firefighter for the village of Kimberly, as a board member at the former Kimberly Credit Union, and donated countless hours at Holy Name Parish in Kimberly. In his younger years, he worked in lumber camps up north, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and even took up golf at the age of seventy! Many will remember Len for his patience for doing fix-it jobs, and for maintaining his famous “Wall of Fame”. He enjoyed playing cards, and was quite the sheephead player. Len and Geraldine were a very loving and giving couple who always lived a simple life, finding their greatest joys by spending time in the company of their children and grandchildren.
Len is survived by seven children: Eugene (Jane) Romenesko of Little Chute and their children: Patricia (Marvin) Janssen, Mike (Gail) Romenesko, Jerry (Beverly) Romenesko, Tom (Carol) Romenesko, Jack (Sandy) Romenesko, Jill (Ron) Tiedt, Dan (Mary) Romenesko, Polly (Donald, deceased) Romenesko, Dave (Kim) Romenesko, and Jan (Troy) Hietpas;
Don (Barb) Romenesko of Kimberly and their children: Bob (Deb) Romenesko, Jean Salm, Joni (Tom) Martzahl, Katy (Jeff) Masak, Bill (Vicki) Romenesko, Joe (Lisa) Romenesko, Paul (Carol) Romenesko, and Andy (Sara) Romenesko;
Carol (Claude) Tourville of Darboy and their children: Claudia (Rick) Van Thiel, Don (Brenda) Tourville, Tom Tourville, Pat (Sue) Tourville, Barb (Tom) Beck, Mike (Beth) Tourville, Michelle (Jim) Vanden Boom, and Jeff Tourville;
Mary (Don) Mahn of Kaukauna and their children: Jill (Jeff) Tennessen and Mary Beth Frassetto;
James (Sue) Romenesko of Kaukauna and their children: Jeff (Nancy) Romenesko, Greg (Michelle) Romenesko, Michelle (Harald) Steltzer, and Charley (Holly) Romenesko;
Alice (Roger) Wynboom of Appleton and their children: Ann (Dave) Williams and Sara Wynboom;
Carl (Alice) Romenesko of Appleton and their children: Jenny Romenesko, Michael Romenesko, Phillip Romenesko, Allyson Romenesko, Steven Romenesko, and Patrick Romenesko.
Len is further survived by sixty-four great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter; a brother: Joseph Romenesko of Little Chute, a sister Stella Sanders of Little Chute, and a sister-in-law Mona Peeters of Neenah. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons of Gene and Jane: Donald Romenesko and Ronald Romenesko; brothers and sisters: Walter (Mabel) Romenesko, Katherine Romenesko, Margaret (John) Vanden Heuvel, Ann (Arnold) Van Asten, Wensel (Merilla) Romenesko; a brother-in-law Lloyd Sanders, and a sister-in-law Barbara Romenesko.
The funeral liturgy for Len will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, November 14, 2001 at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH. 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly with Rev. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 4:30 PM until the hour of the liturgy. A memorial fund for a worthy cause will be established in Len’s name.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the entire staff at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna for their wonderful care over the past ten years. You made dad so comfortable there; he could have been in no better hands. Thank you so very much.
