Leona O. Didier

June 23, 1938 — November 12, 2021

Leona O. Didier, age 83, entered into eternal rest peacefully at home while in the loving care of her family on Friday, November 12, 2021.  Leona Dostal was born in Haugen, Wisconsin on June 23, 1938, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Lastufka) Dostal.  She married the love of her life – James Didier – on August 9, 1958, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Haugen.

Leona graduated from Rice Lake High School and worked as a telephone switchboard operator in Minneapolis.  After raising her four children she started the deli department at Super Valu and later transferred her expert cooking abilities to the larger Economart.

Leona was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who treasured hosting holiday family gatherings. She was a woman of great faith and few words whose hands were never still. She enjoyed making crepes for grandchildren, cooking endlessly for the hunters, extravagantly hosting holiday dinners, always accepted everyone’s pile of mending, being a fantastic seamstress, canning all the vegetables from her immaculate garden, and growing beautiful flowers. During her free time she took pleasure in reading cookbooks and relaxing in her Adirondack chair. She was dearly loved, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She survived by her loving husband James; her children Brenda (Mark) Lindsay of Green Bay, Steve (Teresa) Didier of Las Vegas, Karen (Stan) Jensen of Appleton, and Martin (Sally) Didier of Menomonie. Her grandchildren are Mike Lindsay, Andrew (Kate) Lindsay, Andrea (Damian) Delavega-Dahaware, Mariana (Adam) Peers, Andrew Didier, Ashley (Dustin) Stelse, Aaron Jensen, Nicholas Didier, and Christopher Didier; a great-granddaughters Melanie, Eloise, and Madeline, along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents and siblings Marie Moravec, Regina Brockman, Frances Willger, Rita Dostal, Veronica Michalski, Norbert Dostal, Charles Dostal, and Joseph Dostal.

The funeral liturgy for Leona will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 19, 2021 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, located at 2331 E. Lourdes Drive in Appleton, with Fr. Joseph Dorner.  Interment will take place at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Stone Lake, Wisconsin.  Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.

The mass will also be livestreamed for those not able to attend, and that information can be found at Leona’s obituary page at www.wichmannfuneralhomes.com
