Leon H. Sawall

Leon H. Sawall, a child of God, passed away peacefully on November 2nd, 2022, at the age of 85, with his family and pastor by his side.

Leon was born in New London on January 14, 1937.  He enlisted into the United States Air Force where he played trombone in the military band.  After his honorable discharge from the military, Leon went on to work at Thrivent Financial for 35 years.  Leon met his beloved wife, Carol, in grade school which led to the two sharing 66 beautiful years together.  With his wife Carol, Leon loved to take fishing vacations no matter who caught the most fish, play golf, and displaying his champion ping pong skills.

Leon is preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Hattie Sawall, and sisters Ruth Restle and Faye Ebert.

He is survived by his loving wife Carol, sons Dan Sawall, David (Julie Ann) Sawall, and Don (Sue) Sawall, granddaughters Claire Sawall and Chloe Sawall.  He is further survived by his brother Robert (Delors) Sawall, brother-in-law Jerry Ebert, and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the pastors at Eternal Love Lutheran Church of Appleton and the wonderful 5th floor staff at Theda Care Neenah for all of their compassionate care and kindness.

The Christian Funeral Service for Leon will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Eternal Love Lutheran Church, located at 1011 E. Midway Road in Appleton with Rev. David Backus officiating.  A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of service.  Full military honors will be presented immediately following the service. Leon will be placed at rest in a private service at Highland Memorial Park.
