Age 100, passed away Monday, December 16, 2002 at the Colony Oaks Care Center. Leila was born February 17, 1902 in Grand Chute, daughter of the late Louis Petersen and Emma (Mundt) Petersen. Leila was married to Sheldon Baetz who preceded her in death in 1980. Over the years Leila worked as a sales associate at the Rose Shop and the Fashion Shop. She was also a longtime member of First Congregational Church in Appleton.
Lee is survived by a sister: Arline Emrich of Appleton; two grandchildren: Susan Van Eyck of Durham, North Carolina and Douglas (Pamela) Van Eyck of Appleton; two great-grandchildren: Andrew and Samantha Van Eyck; several nieces and nephews: Phyllis Saliture of Kenosha, Jim (Cindy) Emrich of Wild Rose, Bob (Judy) Petersen of Appleton; a brother-in-law: George Meyer of Clintonville; a former son-in-law: Jim Van Eyck of Redding, California, as well as by great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Lee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sheldon in 1980, a daughter: Joyce Van Eyck, brothers Carl (Vi) Petersen, Herbert (Pat) Petersen, Willard Petersen, Robert (Winnifred) Petersen, and a sister Ruth Meyer.
Funeral services for Lee will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 19, 2002 at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jane Weeden officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 AM until the hour of the services.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Reflections Unit at Colony Oaks Care Center. Lee could have been in no better hands. Thank you all so very much.
