Leah Jean (Stachowicz) Garvey passed away peacefully and went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday evening, December 9, 2021. Leah was born in Menasha on October 28, 1936, to the late Andrew and Frances (Hawley) Stachowicz.
She attended St. Patrick’s Catholic school in Neenah. Leah worked for Atlas Tag and label for a short time, then became employed at Kimberly Clark and retired at age 60.
In her younger days she found joy in making ceramic items; you may even have one of her chess sets or Christmas trees in your home right now! She also loved talking over Ham radio to people all over the world. Leah found happiness in the north woods a lover of the animals, wilderness and the outdoors. She could be found four wheeling with grandchildren, making lots of food, and having campfires as her favorite activities. Leah was a pistol and there was a porch and a couple of turkeys that will never tell the tale! She loved laughing and playing with her grandchildren, and always knew how to make those around her laugh. She especially loved telling great stories, as she was a fabulous storyteller. Leah enjoyed her time reading and she could read 2 or 3 books in a single day! She loved learning and reading everything about Native American culture. Leah spent much of her time praying for everyone, those still with us and those who have passed. If you ever met her, she was praying for you. She expressed her great love for Mother Mary and prayed the rosary many times a day. Christmas was her favorite time, and this year she will be in the front row for this joyous season.
