Lea Ann Skotzke, 56, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023. She was born on November 11, 1966, in Appleton, Wisconsin; daughter of John and Doris (Nooyen) Skotzke. Lea attended grade school at St Mary Catholic Central Appleton and graduated from Xavier High School in 1984. During her time at Xavier, Lea was an athlete and was a part of the Xavier Hawks tennis team.
She continued to enjoy tennis years beyond high school. You could always find Lea outside, spending time in the sunshine, putzing in the yard, and playing with her pup. Lea was a born nurturer. She not only cared for her Mom and Dad, but was employed by other families to care for their loved ones. She enjoyed hanging out with her nieces and nephews and peacefully drawing on her own.
Growing up, Lea and her siblings spent many summers at the family cottage on Shawano Lake. She enjoyed bringing her closest girlfriends up for swimming, boating and campfires with her family. It brings comfort to Lea’s family to know that she was greeted at the gates of heaven by her mother whom recently passed and her father. Lea loved her parents dearly. Lea will be remembered by friends and family for her infectious smile and bubbly personality that brought joy to those around her, lighting up rooms as she entered.
Lea was preceded in death by her parents, John and Doris Skotzke.
She is survived by her sisters and brothers, Chris (Mike Klingert) Skotzke, Steve (Laurie) Skotzke, Mike Skotzke, John Skotzke Jr., and Maria (David) Schmidt; all of her beloved nieces and nephews; Christina (Kyle) Hilscher, KD (Daniel) Ullsperger, Sam (Katie) Cianciola, Kiara (Jason) Ehrmentraut, Matt Skotzke, Carly (Matt Seelow) Skotzke, Colton Skotzke, Lea (Logan) Strebig, Kathryn (special friend Brett) Schmidt, and Mitchell Schmidt; 11 great nieces and nephews: Jack, Beau, and Ella Hilscher, Luella and Maisy Cianciola, Gracie, James, Hazel, and Estelle Ehrmentraut, Brexzyn Seelow, and Lincoln Strebig; close family friend and neighbor Patty Parker; and special friend Tony Kokke; former sister-in-law’s Maria Beisenstein and Becky Skotzke.
