Brown, Lawrence H.
Lawrence H. Brown, age 86, passed away Thursday evening, November 16, 2006. Larry was born in Watertown, NY on July 27, 1920, son of George and Harriet (Horton) Brown. He served in the Army Air Corps as a navigator in the Pacific Theater, during WW II. On June 25, 1949, he married Margaret Edgerton, with whom he spent the rest of his life. Larry graduated from Syracuse College of Forestry with a Paper Chemistry degree and was employed by Albany International for 35 years, where he pioneered new papermaking methods. Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman, with few trout streams between Wisconsin and New York that don’t hold a memory of his footsteps. He also played out his passion for ice hockey by supporting the birth of the Appleton Hockey Club in the early 1970’s. He was always very supportive and proud of his family. Larry is survived by his wife, Margaret E. Brown; three daughters, Sally Brown, Georgia Brown and Peggy Brown; two sons, Larry (Kathy) Brown, and Bruce Brown; four grandchildren, Christopher Brown, Taylor, Derek and Greta Brown. A memorial service for Lawrence will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, corner of Franklin and Drew Streets, with Reverend David Brice officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 am, Tuesday, until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Larry’s memory to the Youth Group of the First United Methodist Church, 325 East Franklin Street, Appleton, WI 54911.
Larry will be missed, but remembered for his glowing grin and penchant for hard work.
