Lawrence Arnold Faulks, age 76, was born on April 6th, 1943 to the late Arnold and Nina (Frihart) Faulks. He passed away on Friday, February 28 at Cherry Meadows hospice unit in Appleton. Larry is survived by his wife of 38 years, Elaine M. Faulks (Kottke); One sister, Kathleen (Pete) Albritton; two step children, Ray (Monica) Kottke, and Marcia (John) Bartos; one brother-in-law, Wayne Christopherson; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
As a young man, Larry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge as a Sergeant after serving his country for 4 years in the Vietnam War. Upon his return to the States, Larry was employed with the Waupaca County Highway Department for 19 years. He also worked for the Wisconsin Dells School System, performed maintenance work for several apartment complexes, and worked at Truck Country in Kaukauna before his retirement. During those years, Larry also graduated from Foley Belsaw Locksmith School and managed a home maintenance and repair business on the side.
Larry was also an active member of both the VFW and American Legion. He loved his country and those who served to maintain our freedoms. Larry also had a love for his family, animals and nature. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and helping others. He enjoyed building birdhouses, bird feeders, framing pictures, and eating hamburgers! Larry was known as the handyman of the neighborhood and the guy who would strike up a conversation with just about anyone! He was never afraid to get his hands dirty assisting someone with a project or repair, or teaching them how to fix something. He also had a great sense of humor and loved to tease the waitresses at Mohnen’s restaurant. He will be missed and remembered by us all.
A Memorial Service will be officiated for Larry at 11 AM on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri-County Chapel, 1592 Oneida St., Menasha, WI 54952 by his step-son, Rev. Ray Kottke.
