Age 68, passed to his heavenly rest on Wednesday, February 7, 2001, surrounded by his family, while fighting a courageous battle with leukemia. Larry was born on February 3, 1933, Outagamie County to the late Walter F.and Anne L. (Strelke) Roberts. Larry graduated from Appleton High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. Upon his discharge he married the former Donna Lou Swecker on November 12, 1955 at Assumption Church in Topeka, KS. The union was blessed with three children.
Larry is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Donna Lou, of 45 years; his son, Ron and his sons, Justin and Brandon and his daughter, Krysta; his daughter Debi (Dan “Boone”) Schommer, and their children, Kristoffer and Vanessa; his daughter, Judy (Jim) Ogle, and their children, Tiffany and Joshua; his mother-in-law, Mary Osburn; his sister-in-law, Carla Hopp; his sister Donna Mae VanAsten; his brothers Tom and David; his aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and special family friends. Larry was preceded in death by his brothers Mike and Jerry. He was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Church, Appleton and an active member of American Legion Post #38. Larry was employed as a truck driver for Teamsters Local #200, until his retirement in 1994. He especially enjoyed “up north”, playing golf, watching the Packers and playing cribbage. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2001, at SACRED HEART CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont St, Appleton, with Fr. Robert Karuhn officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial has been established in Larry’s name.
