Age 78, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2004 at the Appleton Medical Center. Laverne was born December 22, 1925 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Walter and Hilda (Wegner) Knies. In 1945, she married Joe Wagner in Milwaukee; he preceded her in death in 1979. Laverne was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Appleton, and for several years volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was a very active and well-liked resident at RoundHouse Manor in Kaukauna. Survivors include two sons: Mike (Pat) Wagner of Appleton and Alan (Maureen) Wagner of Kimberly; three grandchildren: Deanna (Chris) Sala of Crofton, Maryland and their daughter Sophia; Scott (Rebecca) Wagner of Falls Church, Virginia; and Andrew Wagner of Kimberly; two sisters: Arline (Robert) Hetzel of Marion and Violet Schrader of Milwaukee; a brother: Leroy (Nancy) Knies of Kansas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, a grandson Paul, a sister Florence (Ted) Geisler, and a brother-in-law Fred Schrader.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at the Wisconsin Memorial Park Family Center on W. Capitol Drive in Brookfield, Wisconsin, with Rev. Martin Keller of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiating. Entombment will follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park. Friends may call at the family center of Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the services.
