LaVerne L. Franzoi Johnson

LaVerne L. Franzoi Johnson, of Menasha, Wisconsin and Bradenton, Florida died on November 20, 2002 after a lengthy battle with cancer. LaVerne was born to Harry and Freida Reichow in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is survived by her husband, Carl Fokken, of Sioux City, Iowa, her son, Joseph F. Franzoi IV of Menasha, his wife Patricia, and their two children, Joseph F. Franzoi V and Forest Ann Franzoi. LaVerne was preceded in death by her two prior husbands, Joseph F. Franzoi and Iver Johnson.

LaVerne graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Business Administration in 1943 and a Doctor of Law in 1946. She was an editor of the Marquette Law Review with her first husband Joseph Franzoi. LaVerne was a founding partner of the law firm of Franzoi & Franzoi, S.C. and she practiced law from 1948 until recently when her illness made practicing no longer possible.

In her early years of practice LaVerne was also a part-time instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in the areas of accounting and business administration. In the past, LaVerne also served as a board member of the Fox Valley Technical College. LaVerne recently worked tirelessly on a memorial for the Marquette University Law School in Memory of the late Wisconsin Chief Supreme Court Justice E. Harold Hallows for whom she had great admiration.

LaVerne led an active and diverse life and had many passions. She was an animal lover, gourmet cook, world traveler, and avid reader. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

In honoring LaVerne’s request there will be no memorial service and contributions commemorating her life should be directed to Wichmann Funeral home of Appleton, Wisconsin for the benefit of St. Mary’s Central/Seton Educators Foundation Endowment Trust.
