Age 79, passed away on May 18, 2008, at Manor Care Health Services. LaVergne was born on January 9, 1929, to the late Anthony and Louise (Shalaga) Jacob. She married her late husband, Warde G. Burkhardt on May 14, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois. LaVergne was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed spending many wonderful summer months at her cabin with family and friends.

LaVergne is lovingly survived by her son, Gregg (Kathy) Burkhardt; grandson, Michael Burkhardt; many in-laws, nieces, nephews and special close friends. LaVergne is preceded in death by her brother, Mel Jacob.

A funeral mass for LaVergne will be held on Friday, May 23, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette Street, Appleton, with Father Thomas J. Farrell officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

A memorial fund is being established by LaVergne's family.

The Burkhardt family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the nurse and physicians in the Intensive Care Unit at Mercy Medical Center and also the staff at Manor Care for all their care and support for LaVergne.
