LaVahn W. Jensen, of the Town of Harrison, died comfortably at home on Sunday, August 24, 2008. He was born in Seymour, WI, the fifth of eight children, on April 5, 1925, the son of the late William A. and Angie L. (Johnston) Jensen. LaVahn graduated from Seymour High School and attended Fond du Lac Junior College for two years. LaVahn was proud to serve in the United States Air Corp in Italy and North Africa during WWII. On July 21, 1948 he married Nadine Greunke. She preceded him in death on May 13, 2008. LaVahn was employed for 41 years as a distribution auditor for Wisconsin Electric Power Company, retiring in 1988. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church, was a past Master of Waverly Masonic Lodge, and a member of Golden K Kiwanis Club. LaVahn loved living at the lake for the past 55 years. He enjoyed his family, and hunting and fishing.

LaVahn is survived by his three loving children: Jeanne (Doug) Denning of Arlington, VA, Gary (Joan) Jensen, Town of Harrison, and Mark (Karen) Jensen of Markesan; grandchildren: Warren and Glen Denning, Arlington, VA; Chrystal Wesenberg of Whitewater, and Adrian and Trevor Jensen of Markesan. He is further survived by his brothers and sister: Wayne (Mary Pat) Jensen, Kathleen (LaVern) Weishoff, Jim (Judy) Jensen, and Bill Jensen; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Elmer Vanden Boogaard, Tom (Peg) Greunke, Jim (Mary) Greunke, and Dolores Greunke. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine; sisters and brothers-in-law: Joyce (Birnam) Walker, Opal Vanden Boogaard, Bea (Joe) Kneiss, and Gerald Greunke.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 209 S. Allen St., Appleton, with Rev. Kurt Kovanen and Rev. Mary Beth Kovanen officiating. A military service will follow. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with Waverly Masonic Lodge #51 conducting a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in LaVahn's name is being established.
