Larry O. Bernecker

Larry Otto Bernecker of Appleton, age, 58, was born into eternal life on November 2nd, under the loving care of his family and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Larry was born on August 17th, l948, in Miami, to the late Otto and Carroll Bernecker.

Larry spent the majority of his career working in the retail/department store business, living in many parts of the country working for Jordan Marsh, Saks Fifth Ave., Dillards, and Younkers. In 1995, Larry bought into his own business/franchise of the Great American Cookie Company, expanding to 14 stores in 5 states. Today, the family still owns and manages the Great American Cookie Company at the Fox River Mall.

Larry enjoyed boating, especially his 38 Рfoot Formula named, “Cookie Monster”. His love of boating and his 4 children were his life. Larry was always working, if it be in his office or in his workshop fixing odds and ends, and projects around the house. The children always knew “Daddy can fix it!”

Jimmy Buffet was Larry’s favorite artist and will always leave a smile and wonderful memories for many of us! Larry was a faithful supporter of Xavier High School. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton.

Larry is survived by his wife, Lori, and their four children: Logan (17), Sean (14), Blake (6), and Kate (4). He also is survived by his sister, Jean Snider of Orlando, Florida, and her 3 children, Dena Freeman, Sheryl Koepke, and Kevin Snider.

The funeral liturgy for Larry will be held on Monday, November 6th at 10:30 a.m. at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence St., Appleton with Fr. John Holly and Fr. Larry Abler officiating. A luncheon will follow the mass. The visitation will be at funeral home in Appleton on Sunday, November 5th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and on Monday at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass. The Rosary will be said at 5:30 p.m., and a time of remembrance and sharing will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Larry’s name.
