New London

Larry Wayne Koeller, age 88, went home to his Lord and Savior on May 19, 2024, surrounded by his family.  Larry was born July 31, 1935, the son of Louis and Clara (Buettner) Koeller in Shawano, Wisconsin.  Larry graduated from Gresham High School in 1953, where he played basketball and baseball.  On June 25, 1960, he married his loving wife, Betty.

Larry served proudly in the 10th Mountain Division of the US Army from 1955 - 1957  and was stationed in Frankfurt Germany. On June 25, 1960, he married his loving wife, Betty. Larry graduated in 1962  from the Wisconsin State College at Oshkosh with a degree in elementary education and then taught  for the Appleton Area School District from 1962 to 1999.  Larry loved  the outdoors, fishing and the lifelong friendships and adventures he created with his camping buddies, the Taggies (Iceman, Juice, Sarge, RIP, Lupe, Cooter, Swede, Doc, Desi, Dodger, Turk, and Irish).  The past few years he also looked forward to his weekly breakfast meetings with his retired teacher friends.  Larry and Betty were members of Hope Lutheran Brethren Church.

Larry’s love for life left a legacy that will be lived on through his family and friends who loved him and shared his time here on this earth.

Larry is survived  by his children, Todd (Monica) Koeller and Lori (Allen) Larson, grandchildren David (Kara) Koeller, Joshua (Jasmine) Koeller, Jordan (Lauren) Koeller, Joseph Larson, Jeff Larson, and 5 great-grandchildren, Levi, Ezra, Fletcher, Jude, and Katherine.  Larry is also survived by his brother Michael (Toni Rozek) Cane, and Sister-in-Law Beverly Echtner.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents, brother Norman Koeller, and sisters Donna Koeller and Shirley Koeller.

Larry’s family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to caregivers Joe, Lish and Matt of Ascension Home Health Care and DJ, Creation, and Tiffany of Compassus Hospice Care of Green Bay, the nurses who attended to him during his last days.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 9:30 am until 11:30 am at Wichmann Laemmrich Chapel (312 Milwaukee St. Menasha, WI 54952) until the time of service at 11:30.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up to benefit Hope Lutheran Brethren Church and the National Park Foundation.

“Life is good to those who know how to live. I do not ever hope to accumulate great funds of worldly wealth, but I shall accumulate something far more valuable, a store of wonderful memories. When I reach the twilight of life I shall look back and say I'm glad I lived as I did, life has been good to me.”  ~Sigurd Olson
