Lana King, age 50, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on June 12, 2022. She passed unexpectedly of a heart attack.
Lana was born in Neenah, Wi, to John and Geri King. She graduated from Menasha High School where she excelled in academics, clubs and tennis. She attended UW Oshkosh for 2 years while playing tennis there, and received her bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy from UW LaCrosse.
She had been employed at Fox Cities Racquet Club, Menasha Library, Wisconsin Recourse Center and Outagamie County Mental Health. She retired 12 years ago due to various health issues. Lana was able to volunteer in different roles at Christ the Rock Church. She had a gift for helping people because of her kind, gentle, nurturing behavior, her laughter, smile, sense of humor, and very generous heart.
Lana’s love of books, music and games, plus her love for family, friendships and her strong faith were seen every day!
In 1993, Lana accepted Jesus and her life changed. Lana had a strong belief in the bible, the power of prayer and loving others. Her favorite bible verse was Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you”. Her favorite word was joy! Her car’s name was Joy and when she got Whisper, her golden retriever over 2 years ago, Joy became her middle name.
Lana is referred to by our family as “Baby Lana” as she is the youngest cousin out of 29. We have so many wonderful memories of Lana with her sense of humor, love of games, impersonations and imitations of people (especially our family members).
She had a way with words, writing was one of her many gifts. She could express her writing so well that it would touch anyone who was fortunate to read it, especially her poetry and Christmas cards.
Lana is survived by her sisters: Paula and Jenny King; brother: Mark (Lisa) King; her nephews: Ryan (Hannah) King, Tyler Taves; niece: Megan Taves; one great nephew: Michael King; and one great niece: Loralei King. She is further survived by her aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, and special friends; Bill, Renee, Embrie, and Marty. Lana was preceded in death by her parents: John and Geri; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The funeral service for Lana will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday July 16, 2022, at CHRIST THE ROCK, w6254 US-10 #114, Menasha. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until the time of service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
