Age 73, died at ManorCare Health Center, Fond du Lac, on Monday, December 17, 2001. Ken was born on November 12, 1928, in Appleton to the late Theodore and Catherine (Weyenberg) Springer. He graduated from Appleton High School in 1946 and then spent two years in the United States Navy. Ken married Wilma Andress at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Appleton, on February 26, 1949. He worked for Automotive Supply Company from 1948 until his retirement in 1992. Ken was active in the Catholic Order of Foresters, Local Court #132; he also served as a District Officer and a State Court Trustee for eight years. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus #607 and the Americanos Drum and Bugle Corps for many years. Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. Survivors include his wife of 52 years; his son, Steven (Gloria) Springer, Shiocton; his son, Michael (Linda) Springer, Appleton; his daughter, Cindy Springer, at home; his two grandchildren, John Springer (fiancee Amy Lenz); and Jennifer (John) Suprise; and his great grandson, Jacob Suprise; two sisters, Marian (Frank) Krisch, Kaukauna; and Elizabeth (John) Wiesner. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Mary; a brother, Richard and a sister, Catherine (Dave) Strey. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2001, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 East Fremont Street, Appleton, with Fr. Robert Karuhn officiating. Entombment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri-County Chapel, Menasha, on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again directly at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial has been established in his name.
