Age 50, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2003 at Theda Clark Medical Center. Ken was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, on January 30, 1953, the son of Roman and Alma (Schreiner) Schommer. He grew up in Chilton, WI, graduating from Chilton High School in 1971. Ken married Cheryl Schuppel on July 14, 1983 in Denver, Colorado. They resided in Appleton and he was employed as a Regional Manager at Schneider National in Green Bay. Ken enjoyed life and spending time with family and friends. His sense of humor and love of fun was contagious and would spread to everyone he met. Ken will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Cheryl; his father, Roman, Chilton; step-mother, Imelda Schommer, Chilton; step-son, Shane Konen, Brooklyn, NY; 2 sisters, Sharon (Joe) Figueroa, Amhurst, OH; Joleen (Engle) Welch, Dallas, TX; 2 brothers, Robert and his special friend, Wendy Brown, Townsend, WI; Keith (Gail), Chilton; 4 nephews, Jeffrey Schommer and his special friend, Sarah Casper, Chilton; Timothy Schommer, Oshkosh; Casey Schommer, Chilton; Joe Figueroa, Amhurst, OH; and a niece, Sabrina Figueroa. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law. Ken was preceded in death by his mother, Alma Schommer; his grandparents, John (Mary) Schommer; Michael (Mary) Schreiner; and many other close relatives. The Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, March 31, 2003 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, with Deacon Pete Reinl officiating. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, March 30 from 4 until 9 p.m., and again on Monday at the funeral home from 9 until 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ken’s name.
