KENNETH P. PIKE
1401 Nicolet Road, Appleton
Age 74, died Saturday, May 26, 2001 at the Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff. Ken was born on October 3, 1926, in Wisconsin Rapids to the late Harold and Mary (Foley) Pike. He graduated from Wisconsin Rapid’s Lincoln High School in 1944 and served his country in the CBs during WWII. Ken married Shirley M. Cotterill on May 15, 1948, in Wisconsin Rapids. He was employed by Sentry Insurance for ten years and was district manager for Farmers Insurance Group for 17 years; Ken retired in 1982 due to ill health. He was active in the affairs of the VFW in Wisconsin Rapids and Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Appleton. Ken loved his north woods A-frame; he enjoyed hunting, boating and especially enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Shirley; his daughter, Ginger (Wayne) Lutz, Berlin, Wisconsin; his daughter, Peggy (Curt) Oschmann, Mountain Home, Arkansas; his daughter Nancy (Dr. Charles) MacDonald, Willow Springs, Illinois; his five grandchildren, Nicole Lutz, Risa (Chad) Janowski, Lt. Todd (Sally) Sprister, Chase and Ian MacDonald; his sister, Lorraine Marzafka, Wisconsin Rapids; and his brother, Glen (Grace) Pike, Wisconsin Rapids. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Violet Pike; his sisters, Gwen Casey, Elaine Alft and Mary Woodman; and his brother Clark Wilson.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2001 at OUR SAVIOUR’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3009 N. Meade Street, Appleton, with Rev. Dennis Ellisen officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton, on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again directly at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial has been established in Ken’s name.
