“Ken”

Age 69, passed away from cancer in Neenah on Saturday, June 4, 2005. He was born in Hortonville on May 8, 1936, son of the late Michael and Wilma (Kruckenberg) Gradl. On November 9, 1957 he married Betty Brinkman at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Appleton. She preceded him in death on June 21, 1994. Ken worked as a journeyman electrician for many years. He also managed the 41 Bowl and Super Bowl, both in Appleton, for 10 years. Ken gained an interest in bowling by being involved in junior bowling. He was a member of the Appleton Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Ken has a 300 game and an 800 series to his credit. Ken had other hobbies which included gardening, planting trees and spending time building his retirement home on Borth Lake, near Antigo.
Ken is survived by his children; Sue (Robert) Kirk of Appleton, James (Elaine) Gradl of Freedom, and Julie Gradl of Howard; five grandchildren: Tina (Jesse) Foster and Collin Kirk; Rachel and Emily Gradl; and Kyle Posselt; two brothers: Glen (Sherry) and Michael (Jan) Gradl; and a very special friend, Jan Gauger of Neenah. Ken was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Betty; his parents; and a brother Eugene.
The funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2005, at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 North Superior Street, Appleton, with Rev. Mark Henke officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jan for the care of our father.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Ken’s name is being established.
