Kenneth L. Wallace
Age 89
Formerly of Appleton, passed away on December 15, 2003 at the New Care Convalescent Center, Crivitz, WI. He was born April 24, 1914 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick (Theresa) Wallace. He married Clara R. VandeHey on August 10, 1937 at St. Paul’s Church, Wrightstown, WI. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Appleton, WI and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He started his career in the family owned cheese factory, and later joined the Kimberly Clark Corporation in Kimberly. In April 1942 his career began with Kimberly Clark starting out in the skidder room, working his way through the ranks, becoming well versed in the printing and paper divisions. In 1960 he transferred from Research and Development to Marketing Research where he traveled extensively putting his knowledge of printing and publishing to work surveying the market for new operations of paper use. In 1973 Mr. Wallace was appointed President of Pentair’s Niagara operation. He retired from Pentair in 1978, and remained on the Board of Directors of Pentair until 1984.
After retiring from Pentair, Mr. Wallace and his wife Clara moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas enjoying golfing and southern living. In 1990 Ken and Clara returned to Appleton, WI and later moved to Crivitz to reside at the Crivitz New Care Convalescent Center. Ken was an avid golfer and bowler, where he held a 200 average for years and loved playing cards with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Clara, three sons: Michael of Neenah, Stephen of Crivitz, Douglas (Elizabeth) of Green Bay, two daughters: Gwen (Ray) Zimmerman of Crivitz, Rebecca (John) Galligan of Westlake, OH; ten grandchildren: Kenneth (Sue) Wallace, Stephanie Wallace, Patrick (Cara) Wallace, Kevin Wallace, Kelly (Gerard) Pinkas, Heather (Randy) Weisenseel, John (Jen) Galligan, Isaac, Erin and Evan Wallace; six great grandchildren: Nicole and Sam Wallace, Ian Pinkas, and Carley, Ashlin Wallace and Derek Weisenseel; brother, Clarence (Delores) Wallace, sister, Florence (Mike) Garvey.
In addition to his parents, four sisters: Regina Garvey, Louise Wallace, Viola Seegers, Irene Mason and three brothers: Leo, Raymond and Eugene Wallace preceded him in death.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Father Robert Karuhn celebrating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
