Kenneth J. DeBruin, age 57 years, died Sunday, July 30, 2006 as a result of a boating accident in Forest County. He was born September 30, 1948 in Appleton the son of Urban and Rita (Verstegen) DeBruin. Ken married Patricia Felton on January 3, 1970 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Appleton. He was employed at Appleton Coated in Combined Locks for over 35 years. Ken enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. He was a member of the Urban Klister Post 436 American Legion, Wrightstown. Ken was especially proud of the new cottage he recently built with the help of his family and friends on Pine Lake in Forest County. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was always willing to help his family and friends with their projects.

Ken is survived by his wife of 36 years, Pat DeBruin of Combined Locks; mother, Rita DeBruin of Kimberly; son, Greg (Mollie) DeBruin of Appleton; grandchildren: Isabel and Curtis DeBruin; sisters: Nancy (Ken) Geiger and Janet (Jim) Burwitz both of Appleton; brothers: Leo (Fran) DeBruin of Combined Locks, Roy (Debbie) DeBruin of Appleton and Glen (Amy) DeBruin of Combined Locks and sister-in-law, Mary (Gerald) Larson of Cedarburg. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ken was preceded in death by his son Curt DeBruin, father Urban DeBruin, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry and Sybil Felton, brother-in-law George Felton and sister-in-law Jean Ruebekeil.

The funeral liturgy for Ken will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace St., Combined Locks with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Interment will take place at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church from 9:00 am until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
