Kenneth E. Wichman

June 6, 1937 — May 2, 2008

Kenneth Edwin Wichman, 70, passed away May 2, 2008, surrounded by his family. Ken was born June 6, 1937, son of the late Edwin and Vera (Krueger) Wichman. From 1960 until 1962, he was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington and served his country as a member of the Company B, 35th Engineer's Combat Battalion. He was also a member of Hortonville's American Legion Post #55. On September 21, 1963, he married Joyce Dettmann and the couple resided on the family farm in the Town of Center. Ken was employed by Kimberly Clark Atlas Mill for thirty-nine years, until his retirement in 1995. Nothing was more important to Ken than family and friends. He enjoyed working on the farm, hosting bonfires for friends and neighbors, traveling, antique tractors, and any kind of puzzle; but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. God granted his wish that he never had to leave Pleasant Road.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years: Joyce; and their four children: Robert Kerrigan of Neenah; Deb (Bob) Kiley of Appleton; David (Tina) Wichman of Seymour; and Kay (Ed) Walker of Appleton; seven grandchildren: Nathan Kerrigan; Stephanie and Alex Kiley; Mindy, Dana, and Melanie Wichman; and Vincent Walker; and his brother and sister-in-law, Wesley (Audrey) Wichman, Littleton, Colorado. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law: Joan and Elwood Hofpsenperger, his parents-in-law: Selma and Martin Dettmann, and his step-father: Irvin Herzfeldt.

The Christian Funeral for Ken will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 5, 2008 at ST. JOHN EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, Highway 47 North of Appleton with Rev. Jeffrey Suhr and Rev. Micah Martin officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM and again Monday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Full military rites will follow the worship service at the church on Monday morning.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Steven Price from the Neuroscience Center and the nurses and staff at Theda Clark Medical Center and ThedaCare At Home Hospice. Many friends and neighbors have also offered their support in the past days, and for your care and concern we are forever grateful.
