The funeral liturgy for Kathryn will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2004, at ST. PIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 West Marquette Street, Appleton, with Fr. Donald Zuleger officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the liturgy. A private burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. A memorial fund is being established.
Kathryn, age 59, died on Monday, June 7, 2004. She was born in Green Bay on September 10, 1944, daughter of the late Robert and Georgie (Kelly) Barclay. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Green Bay in 1962 and later went on to the University of Oshkosh and earned a degree in Education and further earned a masters degree in education. On March 15, 1969, she married Michael Curran. He preceded her in death on August 30, 2001. Kathryn was an elementary school teacher in Hortonville for a short time and then a teacher at St. Pius X Catholic Church. She also served as a faith formation coordinator. Kathryn was active in A.R.C. for many years. Local and State A.R.C. organizations recently recognized Kathryn’s family as “family of the year.”
Kathryn is survived by her children: Patrick and Timothy Curran, both of Appleton; mother-in-law, Mary Ruth Curran of Green Bay; brother-in-law: Patrick (Maria) Curran of Neenah; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen (Dean) Otte of Davenport, IA; and many nieces and nephews. Kathryn is preceded in death by her husband, Michael, her parents Georgie and Robert Barclay; an aunt, Kathryn “Bung” Kelly; and a father-in-law, Gerald J. Curran.
The family extends very a special thank you to Sue Krings for her exceptional care of Kathryn.
Kate’s commitment to her school, church, Special Olympics, and family was renowned. Her many hours of service were paid back to her during her illness with tender loving care from so many. Her family knows that Kate says, Thank you.
