Kathryn Cowling, a child of God, passed into his eternal presence on August 11, 2023. Kathryn was born in Appleton on December 29, 1934, daughter of the late August and Gertrude (Bellew) Kools. She attended Appleton schools and graduated high school in 1953. She later married Bob Schierl and raised five children. Later in life she was married to George Cowling.
Kathryn enjoyed crafts, especially crochet, writing, baking, and painting.
Her survivors include five children: Cyndee (Matt) Schroeder, Jennifer (Chuck) Vander Linden, Gregg (Laurie) Schierl, Gary (Rick) Schierl, and Eric (Anna) Schierl; ten grand grandchildren: Genevieve Schroeder, Joe Schroeder, Kati Vander Linden, Emily Vander Linden, Anne Vander Linden, Hannah Schierl, Justin Schierl, Adam Quella, Tiffany Verhagen, and Amy Barth. There are also eight great-grandchildren, as well as a brother: Robert Kools.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John and Frank, a half-brother Donald Englland, and a sister-in-law: Marlene Kools.
A funeral service for Kathryn will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Wichmann Funeral Home, located at 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on that morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to everyone from AseraCare: Kayla, Angela, Lissa, Eileen and Deacon James, as well as Lisa and the caring people at Care Partners. Thank you all so much.
