Kathleen “Buns” M. Maloney passed away peacefully on May 11, 2023. Buns was born November 14, 1944, in Wausau, WI to Edward and Alice (Westberg) Koppa. She was the oldest of four children born to the couple and grew up in Wausau. Following High School, Kathy had three children Debbie, Karla and Guy. Kathy met Ed “Eddie” Maloney in Appleton at the Cinderella Bar. It was love at first sight and the two were married soon after meeting and Kathy inherited a “son from another mother,” Jack Maloney. They were together for 25 years at the time of his passing.
The couple lived in Appleton, and owned and managed the Cinderalla Bar where they made countless friends. Over the course of 40+ years and two locations, they invested in fun times, laughter and a Pabst. Every facet of entertainment was a passion of Kathy’s and she enjoyed watching movies and reading up on the latest gossip. She loved listening to Elvis, and even sent a single yellow rose to his funeral.
Buns loved her trips and adventures in Las Vegas. She travelled with many friends including Ann Konop-they specialized in Blackjack, Slots and Shows. The best memory is when she and “Avalon Ann” received a bottle of champagne from Wayne Newton.
Kathy is survived by her daughters: Debbie Hughes, Karla (Adam) Kerry and son: Guy (Cheryl) Krumm; stepson Dr. Jack Maloney; grandchildren: Sam (Kendra) Telin, Forrest (Jenna) Krumm, Brighton (Austin) Reed, Chloe Coenen, Gabe Krumm and Sophia Zenefski. She is further survived by siblings Karen (Bob) Ristow, and Tom (Jeanne) Koppa. She was preceded in passing by her husband, her parents, and her brother John Koppa.
A memorial service for Kathy will be held Saturday June 10, 2023, at 3:00pm at Wichmann Funeral Home-Tri County Chapel, 1592 Oneida Street, Fox Crossing. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 1:00pm until the start of the service.
