CHICQUETTE, KATHERINE (KAY)
Katherine (Kay) Killian Chicquette, of Appleton, age 60 years, died peacefully at home in the company of her family on Monday, December 31, 2007. She was born on October 30, 1947 in Arcadia, Wisconsin to the late Edward and Gertrude (Brom) Killian. Kay graduated from Arcadia High School in 1965 and attended UW-La Crosse, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in elementary Education in 1969. On August 14, 1976 Kay married Louis Chicquette at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Arcadia. She taught kindergarten through third grade during her 36 year career with the Appleton Area School District.
Kay's passions were being a mom, teaching, music, and golf. She was also known as a talented needleworker and took pride in being part of Apple Tree Artisans and Sweet Briar Artisans. Kay was a talented pianist and enjoyed many opportunities to use her gifts to serve others. She accompanied the Highland Elementary School Choir for many years as well as various groups at First English Lutheran Church, where she served her faith in many capacities during her adult life. She was a member of the church council and executive committee, and co¬directed/accompanied the Cherub Choir for 20 years. Kay was also an accomplished golfer, and competed in many women's tournaments in her younger years. She loved golfing with her brothers and especially her daughter, Katie. She enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader and coached a number of children's sports. Her best and most recent accomplishment was becoming a Gramma to the light of her life, Christian Chicquette Adams.
Kay is survived by her husband, Louis; a daughter and son¬in-law, Katie (Chicquette) and Matt Adams; grandson, Christian (all in Appleton); brothers and sisters-in law: Jim and Doris Killian (Fountain City, WI), Wayne and Sally Killian (Onalaska, WI), Chuck and Mary Killian (St.Paul, MN), Lowell and Carol (Chicquette) Peterson (Bay City, WI); father-and mother- in-law, Louis and Inez Chicquette of Red Wing, MN. She will also be missed by 10 nieces and nephews and their families, 3 aunts, and dear friends who were company for numerous lunch and coffee dates.
The memorial service for Kay will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 326 E. North Street, Appleton with Rev. David Lyle officiating. The family will receive friends at the CHURCH on Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm and Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established with the Appleton Education Foundation and First English Lutheran Church.
