Karl J. Wautlet

Karl Wautlet, age 75, passed away Friday, September 9, 2005 at the Appleton Medical Center. Karl was born in Appleton on July 9, 1930, son of the late Fabian and Rose (Meyer) Wautlet. Karl was a 1949 graduate of the Appleton High School, and faithfully served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Karl always enjoyed the Air Force reunions with his fellow servicemen. On May 25, 1957, he married the former Bernadette “Bernie” Scherer; she survives. For many years, Karl was employed by the Kimberly Clark Atlas Mill and was also a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Food Pantry for over ten years. He was active with his local Neighborhood Watch program, and enjoyed life in general by spending time with his children and grandchildren, and playing cards.

Karl is survived by his wife of forty-eight years: Bernie Wautlet of Appleton; three sons: Michael (Sally) Wautlet of Neenah, Robert (Barri) Wautlet of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Steven (Alicia) Wautlet of Tucson, Arizona; eight grandchildren: Christopher, Shannon (Ben), Travis, Brent, Troy, Zachary, Ryan, and Kaitlin; a brother: Dennis (Sandy) Wautlet; five sisters: Arleen (Milton) Warning, Marian (Daryl) Madsen, his twin sister Carol (Jerome) LeBlanc, Kathleen (Ralph) Lamb, and Judy (Michael) Courtney; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Karl was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Sue, brothers Donald and Merrill, and a sister Rita.

The funeral liturgy for Karl will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 12, 2005 at ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH, corner of Morrison Street and Wisconsin Avenue in Appleton with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday (TODAY) from, 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. with a parish prayer and scripture service being held at 7:30 P.M. There will be no visitation at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorials be directed to St. Joseph’s Food Pantry.
