Karl L. Hoppe, age 79, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, at St Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.
He was born on May 31, 1945, to Milton A. and Verna (Bermann) Hoppe in Algoma, WI. Karl attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Grade School and Algoma High School.
He was a proud member of the US Navy, as a Petty Officer First Class, serving 22 years as a diesel mechanic. He was honorably discharged in 1991.
On June 9, 1990, Karl married his high school classmate Carol J. Werner at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Appleton. He also worked at Kitz and Pfeil Ace Hardware in Menasha until his retirement in 2010. Of Karl’s great joys in life were riding his motorcycle and playing the drums.
Karl is survived by his sister Yvonne (Gerald) Hearly; daughter Sherri M (Hoppe) Troxell; son Leonard K. Hoppe; three brothers-in-law: Marlin (Eleanor) Werner, Tom (Renee) Werner, and Dan (Sue) Werner, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Karl was preceded in death by his loving wife Carol, his parents and his son Milton Carl Hoppe.
A Christian funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 11:00am at St Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 302 N Morrison St, Appleton. Friends and family may gather at the church from 10:00am until the service begins. Karl will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
