Karen M. Kapitzke

October 28, 1939 — September 12, 2002

Age 62, was called home to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 12, 2002. Karen was born in Appleton on October 28, 1939, daughter of the late Levi and Margaret (Abendroth) Schroeder and grew up on the family farm in Greenville. She was a 1957 graduate of the Hortonville High School, and on October 21, 1961, she married Edgar Kapitzke at Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton. As a young woman, Karen was employed at AAL in downtown Appleton. She enjoyed caring for her violets, other flowers and garden, and in her younger years enjoyed attending her children’s sporting events and other activities.

Survivors include her husband: Edgar Kapitzke of Neenah; four children: Lori (David) Weyland of Neenah, Pamela Kapitzke and Jeff Erickson of Larsen, Steven Kapitzke of Neenah, and Carla Clark of La Crosse; nine grandchildren: Melissa, Kimberly, David Jr. and Jodie Weyland; Trisha Brockmann, Kayla Kapitzke, Nathan, Michelle, and Tayler Erickson; a sister: Sue (Jerry) Stolzman of Juneau; two brothers: Ron (Gerri) Schroeder of Appleton and Richard (Pat) Schroeder of Waupaca; a brother-in-law: Edward Humpage of Glen Allen, Virginia. Karen is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter Lena Sue, a sister Jane Humpage, and her son-in-law Barry Clark.

Funeral services for Karen will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 16, 2002 at MARTIN LUTHER EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 436 S. Lake Street in Neenah with Rev. Richard Maurice officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 – 7 PM and again at the church on Monday from Noon until the time of the service.

Karen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
