Age 62, passed away late on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at the Hospice at Cherry Meadows. Karen was born near Shiocton on October 2, 1941, daughter of the late Richard and Isabel Locke. On November, 1972, she married Roland “Butch” Tuyls, Jr. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Appleton. Karen is survived by a daughter: Nancy Locke of Appleton; her husband: Roland “Butch” Tuyls of Appleton; a brother: Gary (Sue) Locke of Stoughton; a sister: Pat (Rick) Paulson of Monticello; a sister-in-law: Clare Locke of Oshkosh; as well as by Butch’s mother: Vivian Tuyls of Combined Locks, and Butch’s brothers and sisters: Gary (Karri) Tuyls of Mollala, Oregon, Tim (Linda) Tuyls of Hollandtown, Brian Tuyls and his special friend Pam of Kaukauna, Ron (Annette) Tuyls of Kimberly, Greg (Brenda) Tuyls of Harshaw, Dan (Kris) Tuyls of Sherwood, Judi (Harold) Micke of Crivitz, Pat (Ron) Fleming of Combined Locks, Bonnie Tuyls of Gillett, and Tina (Rich) Betters of Sherwood. In addition, Karen leaves behind twenty-six nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a brother Paul Locke.
The funeral liturgy for Karen will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, May 29, 2004 at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2525 E. Lourdes Drive in Appleton with Fr. Harold Berryman officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 – 8 PM and again at the church on Saturday from 9 AM until the hour of the service. There will be a parish prayer and scripture service Friday at 7 PM at the funeral home.
