Kareen E. Hiller

Kareen E. Hiller, of Appleton, WI passed away peacefully to eternal life on November 29, 2020 at the age of 76 surrounded by her family. She was born on July 11th, 1944 to the late John and Dorothy Barr. of Manistique, Michigan.

Kareen had a very special way of welcoming everyone. She loved to travel, play cards and spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was her life and her home was the center of their gatherings. Kareen enjoyed scenic drives with her son Troy and spending time with her daughter Tammy making trees and other crafts. She especially enjoyed making her annual homemade Christmas cards for the soldiers. Kareen retired from Thilmany’s in 2006 where she had many friends. Her door was always open to everyone day or night. If you needed Kareen you would find her at the kitchen counter with a cup of coffee ready for conversation. She had a special love for Betty Boop and Hummingbirds. So, if you catch a glimpse of a hummingbird or see the iconic Betty Boop there, Kareen, will also be. She had an infectious laugh and a smile that will be remembered forever. Kareen is loved by all who called her; wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend.

Kareen is survived by her husband: Dennis Carrell; a son: Troy (Andrea); two daughters: Tammy (Donny) and Cindy (Gary); five grandchildren: Jamie, James, Natasha, Aubrey, and Jordan; five step-grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a twin sister Kathleen (Barr) Sheldon, a brother James Barr, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her former husband Harvey Vanden Bloomer, her parents, and brothers Wallace and John Barr.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Kareen’s lifelong friend Sandy of Shoto, Wisconsin.
