Age 91, passed away very peacefully on Sunday evening, April 23, 2006 at her home. She was born on March 1, 1915 in Appleton to the late William F. and Viola C. (Waite) DeVoe. She graduated from Appleton High School in 1933. On July 23, 1938 she married Donald E. Manier in Appleton. Julie worked as the head cook at the Appleton VFW for many years. She was an auxiliary member and former district president and past president at the VFW Harvey Pierre Post, an auxiliary member of E.M.B.A., as well as a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ. She enjoyed spending time with her loving husband, Don; playing sheephead and bridge; traveling; as well as going to the cottage in Mountain, and picking blackberries.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 67 years, Don; brothers: William F. (Theda) DeVoe, Lake City, FL, Edward DeVoe, Arizona; sister: Mary J. Justl, San Francisco, CA, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte Ferrone.
Friends and family will celebrate her life on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at First Congregational United Church of Christ (724 E. South River Street), with Rev. Jane Anderson officiating. Friends may call directly at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service. A memorial is being established in her name.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Renaissance and Theda Care at Home hospice for all of the loving care given to Julie.
